About Don Buddhist Stupa
The village of Don is identified by some scholars with the Brahmin Drona who divided the Buddha’s ashes into eight shares at Kushinagar and kept the measuring vessel, over which he built a stupa. There is a large mound here with a Durga image worshipped on its top, and Buddhist pilgrims, especially from Sri Lanka and Thailand, occasionally come out to it. Unexcavated and unexplained, which is part of the interest.
