About Tuivawl River Valley
The deep valley the Champhai highway drops into between Saitual and Khawzawl, with the Tuivawl river at the bottom and the district boundary on it. It is the hottest stretch of the drive and the most dramatic: a thousand metres down, over the bridge, a thousand metres up. People stop at the river for a few minutes. In the monsoon the river runs brown and fast and the slopes above the road slip.
