About Torna (Prachandagad)
The first fort Shivaji captured, at age sixteen, which effectively began the Maratha state, he renamed it Prachandagad, 'the enormous fort'. At 1,403 m it is the highest in Pune district. The climb from Velhe is a steady grind with a genuinely large fort waiting at the top.
