About Thotapalli Barrage
A barrage across the Nagavali river at Thotapalli in Garugubilli mandal, about 30 km from Parvathipuram. The first anicut here was built in 1909 and the modern barrage was completed in 2015 to irrigate the plains of the old Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts. The reservoir with the hills behind it draws families on weekends, especially when the gates are open after the rains.
