About Thewa jewellery of Pratapgarh

Thewa is gold sheet cut into filigree and fused onto coloured glass, a technique one family has kept since Nathu Lal Soni worked it out under the Pratapgarh raja in 1767. The Rajsoni families still make it in workshops in the town and will show you the process if you ask; several have national awards on the wall. It carries a GI tag and is made nowhere else.
