About Thana Bhawan
A small town north of Shamli where Haji Imdadullah Muhajir Makki led a rising against the British in 1857, fought a pitched battle at Shamli and then fled to Mecca. His shrine and the Jama Masjid are the reason people come; his disciples went on to found Deoband. Quiet, and not set up for tourists.
