About Suhelwa Wildlife Sanctuary

A long strip of sal forest, about 450 sq km, running along the Nepal border at the foot of the Shivaliks across Balrampur, Shravasti and Gonda, protected since 1988. Leopard, sloth bear and the odd tiger crossing from Nepal, and good forest birding. There is very little tourist infrastructure, so arrange a permit and a vehicle through the forest office in Balrampur before you come.
