About Suhag Nagri Glass Bangle Bazaar
Firozabad makes most of the glass bangles worn in India, which is why it is called Suhag Nagri, the city of married women. The bangle bazaar in the old city sells them by the dozen in every colour, and the lanes behind hold small jhalai units where the bangles are joined over a flame. The big glass furnaces are private and need an introduction to visit. Wear closed shoes and go on a weekday when the units are working.
