About Chandwar Gate and Battlefield
The 1194 battle of Chandawar, fought by the Yamuna a few kilometres from Firozabad, is where Muhammad of Ghor defeated and killed Jaichand of Kannauj and ended Gahadavala rule over the Doab, two years after Tarain. What survives is a mound, a later gateway and scattered ruins in the fields beside the river, with nothing to interpret them. For people who know what happened here, not for anyone else.
