About Sitamarhi
The spot on the Ganga between Prayagraj and Varanasi where Sita is said to have entered the earth after the fire test. A temple built in the 1990s marks it, with a 110 foot Hanuman statue on the bank and a wide ghat below. It is on the old Grand Trunk Road and fills on Sundays; the river view is good and the temple garden is a pleasant stop.
