About Samten Yongcha Gompa
The Mahayana monastery of the Memba people, about 400 years old and said to be a contemporary of Tawang, set on a hilltop a few kilometres from Mechuka town with the whole valley laid out below. It is a small, plain building with old murals and a resident lama or two, not a grand complex. The climb from the road takes twenty minutes.
