About Rajgad → Torna Traverse
The classic Sahyadri ridge traverse, roughly 12 km along the spine linking Shivaji's first fort to his capital. There is no water and no easy bail-out point in the middle, and fog can cut visibility to a few metres, so it is a dry-season, early-start, carry-everything kind of day.
What to see and do
- The full connecting ridge between two great forts
- Budhla Machi and the descent off Torna
- Sanjeevani Machi approach into Rajgad
- Complete solitude for most of the walk
- Sunrise start from Velhe
Part of Sahyadri (Western Ghats).
