About Pushpagiri Temple Complex
A group of Shaiva and Vaishnava temples from the Chola, Chalukya and Vijayanagara periods on and around a hill beside the Penna river, 16 km north of Kadapa. Pushpagiri is one of the few places in south India where a Shankaracharya peetham has been active for centuries; Vaidyanatha Swamy, Chennakesava and Indranatheswara are the main shrines. The riverside setting is quiet and there is little tourist infrastructure, so carry water and go in the morning.
