About Pangsau Pass
The pass on the old Stilwell Road where the Second World War supply route crossed from India into Burma, 12 km above Nampong on a road that climbs through thick forest to the border gate. Just over the Myanmar side lies the Lake of No Return, named for the aircraft that came down in it. The Pangsau Pass Winter Festival in January is the one time the crossing opens easily, with a fair at Nampong and Tangsa dances. Otherwise the army decides.
