About Murud-Janjira

An island fortress in the Arabian Sea that was never taken, not by the Marathas, the Portuguese, the Dutch or the British, despite repeated sieges. Twenty-two bastions rise straight out of the water, and the entrance is angled so it stays invisible until you are almost on it. Reached by sail boat from Rajapuri.
