About Maghar
Where Kabir chose to die in 1518, in a town people then believed condemned you to rebirth as a donkey, to make a point. His Hindu followers built a samadhi and his Muslim followers a mazar, and the two stand a few metres apart on the bank of the Ami river with one gate between them. A Sant Kabir Academy and research centre has gone up beside them. The Nirvan fair falls on Magh Shukla Ekadashi in January or February.
