About Kondakarla Ava
A freshwater lake about 50 km from Visakhapatnam near Yelamanchili, the second largest in Andhra Pradesh after Kolleru. Local fishermen row visitors out in wooden boats through the lotus and reeds, and in winter the lake fills with migratory ducks, herons and other waterbirds. There is a hill at the edge for a view over the water. Go early in the morning for the birds.
