About Kohima War Cemetery
A calm, well kept Commonwealth cemetery on Garrison Hill, on the ground of the old Deputy Commissioner's bungalow, where the Battle of Kohima was fought in April 1944. The outline of the tennis court that lay at the centre of the fighting is marked in the garden, and rows of graves of British, Indian and other soldiers lie on the terraces. The famous epitaph of the 2nd Division stands near the memorial. Plan about an hour, and go in the morning.
