About Kara Dham
Kara was the seat of a medieval province of the Delhi Sultanate and the town where Alauddin Khilji killed his uncle Jalaluddin in 1296. What survives is the ruined fort mound on the Ganga and the Sheetla Devi temple, counted as a Shakti peeth, which draws a large Navratri crowd. The ghats are calm, and Manikpur is across the river.
