About Kannauj Attar Bazaar
Kannauj has distilled attar for a thousand years and still does it the old way: flowers cooked in copper degs, the vapour led through bamboo pipes into sandalwood oil in a bhapka receiver. Mitti attar, the smell of the first rain, is made here from baked clay. The perfumers will show you the sheds if you ask, and the shops around Bada Bazaar sell everything from ₹100 vials up.
