About Golden Pagoda, Namsai
Kongmu Kham, the Golden Pagoda, is a Burmese-style Theravada complex built in 2010 by the Tai Khamti community of Namsai on the Tengapani river, its gilded stupa and pagoda roofs visible from the Tinsukia road. It is the most photographed thing in the district and a working monastery with a school for novices. Poi Pee Mau, the Khamti new year water festival, is in mid-April, when the place fills up. Take shoes off, dress modestly.
