About Dong

A Mishmi and Meyor village at the far eastern tip of the country, at the meeting of the Lohit and Sati rivers, where the sun rises first over Indian soil, before five in the morning in summer. You drive to Walong, two long days from Tezu, cross the Lohit and climb about an hour and a half to the viewpoint above the village. The road is landslide-prone and the army checks permits. Homestays at Walong.
