About Dharawat Buddhist Mound
A village on the west side of the Barabar hills built over a large Buddhist mound that Cunningham identified with the Gunamati monastery Xuanzang described in the 7th century. Pala-period Buddhist and Hindu images turned up by ploughing and digging sit in the village temples and under trees. There is nothing laid out for visitors; it is a stop for people who like to see what a site looks like before the ASI arrives.
