About Dewa Sharif
The dargah of Haji Waris Ali Shah, the Sufi who died in 1905 and whose line "jo Rab hai wahi Ram hai" still sums up the place. Hindus and Muslims come in roughly equal numbers. The Dewa Mela in October or November runs ten days with a cattle fair, kavi sammelan and mushaira, and is the biggest event in Barabanki.
