About Dehu, Tukaram Maharaj
Tukaram was a grain seller who wrote abhangs so direct that the orthodoxy of the time ordered them destroyed. He sank the manuscripts in the Indrayani, sat on the bank fasting, and by the telling they surfaced again after thirteen days. He is said to have left for Vaikunth from Dehu in 1650, body and all. His palkhi sets out from here to join the Pandharpur wari.
