About Chitkul

The last inhabited village on the old India Tibet road, on the bank of the Baspa river, where wooden houses sit under snow peaks. A temple of Mathi, the local goddess, stands in the village, and the last dhaba of India is a favourite stop. Inner Line rules apply beyond the village, so carry identity documents. It is snowed in from December to March.
