About Chhapaiya
The village where Swaminarayan, born Ghanshyam Pande in 1781, spent his early years before leaving for Gujarat. The Swaminarayan Sampraday runs a large temple complex here that gets a steady flow of Gujarati pilgrims, many of them combining it with Ayodhya an hour away. His birthday falls on Ram Navami and is the busiest day.
