About Bhuragarh Fort
A brown stone fort on the Ken river at the edge of Banda town, built in the 1740s and held by the Nawab of Banda during 1857, when British artillery took it. The Natbali fair on Makar Sankranti remembers a rope dancer who died crossing the river to win a bride. The Ken bed below is where the Shajar stone, a dendritic agate with fern patterns, is collected and cut in town.
