About Avantipora Temples
The ruins of the Avantiswami and Avantishvara temples, built by King Avantivarman in the 9th century on the bank of the Jhelum. The carved pillars and plinths and the large courtyard show the quality of early Kashmiri stone work. The sites are open and little visited, and are on the main road between Srinagar and Anantnag.
