About Sagareshwar Deer Sanctuary
Unusually, an entirely man-made sanctuary, the forest was planted from bare hillside and stocked with deer. It works: chital, blackbuck and sambar are all easily seen, and an old temple complex sits in the middle of it.
What to see and do
- A sanctuary created from bare hillside
- Chital, blackbuck and sambar
- Old Sagareshwar temple complex
- Walking trails rather than jeep safari
Part of Sahyadri (Western Ghats).
