About Naimisharanya (Chakra Tirth)
The forest where, by tradition, the sages gathered to hear the stories that became the Puranas. Chakra Tirth is a round spring-fed pond in the middle of the town, said to mark where Vishnu's discus struck the earth, and pilgrims bathe here on new-moon days. The 84-kosi parikrama in Phalgun (February to March) walks a circuit of the surrounding villages over about a fortnight. Small town, dense with temples, 35 km from Sitapur.
