About Mayapur ISKCON
The world headquarters of ISKCON, on the bank of the Ganga in Nadia district, about 130 km from Kolkata, at the place believed to be the birthplace of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. A very large temple, the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium, is being built here. The Gaura Purnima festival in February or March is the biggest event, and Kartika is also a busy period. Many pilgrims stay in the guest houses, and the town of Nabadwip is nearby.
