About Haflong Lake
The only hill station of Assam, in the Dima Hasao hills, with a quiet lake in the middle of town where you can go boating. Pretty rail journeys pass through tunnels and bridges on the hill railway nearby. The nearby village of Jatinga is known for the mystery of birds that fly in on foggy, moonless nights from September to November. The roads are steep and landslides are common in the monsoon, so check before you go.
