About Gopalpur-on-Sea
A quiet old port town on the Bay of Bengal, about 15 km from Berhampur, with a long clean beach and few crowds. It was a trading port in earlier centuries and the old lighthouse and a few colonial buildings remain. The beach is calm in winter but rough in the monsoon and cyclone season, so check the sea and the weather before planning. It is a good rest stop on the road between Puri and Visakhapatnam.
