About Deomali
A small town on the Assam edge of Tirap, on the road in from Naharkatia, with a Buddhist vihara, a market that draws the Nocte villages down from the hills, and tea gardens on the plains side. It is the district entry point rather than a destination, but the weekly market and the vihara are worth an hour. Lazu, in the far south of the district near the Myanmar border, is for the very determined only.
What to see and do
- Weekly market with the Nocte villages
- Buddhist vihara
- Entry point from Assam
- Lazu far to the south
Part of Patkai, Naga and Mizo Hills.
