A border town on the Umngot river, near Bangladesh, about 80 km from Shillong, famous for water so clear that boats seem to float in the air. Boat rides run from the Dawki ghat, with the Bangladesh bank on one side, and a long old suspension bridge stands over the river. The best time is November to March, when the water is at its clearest. Carry ID, as it is a border area.
