About Bhitarkanika National Park
India's second largest mangrove forest, with creeks and mud flats where the biggest saltwater crocodiles in the country are found. Boats go through the channels from Khola or Dangmal, and the heronry at Bagagahan, busiest in the monsoon, is a highlight. You need a permit and a boat; the forest rest house at Dangmal is the usual base. The best weather is November to February.
