About Baidyanath Dham, Deoghar
A major Shiva shrine at Deoghar, counted by many traditions among the twelve Jyotirlingas (other places also make this claim), and also a Shakti Peeth. In the month of Shravan, in July and August, lakhs of kanwariyas walk from Sultanganj in Bihar with Ganga water, and the Shravani Mela is among the biggest in India. At that time, the queues are very long, so plan early or go on an ordinary weekday. The nearby Basukinath is part of the same yatra.
