Auraiya sits just north of the Yamuna, and the ghat below the town is where it bathes, cremates and gathers on Kartik Purnima. The river here is wide and slow in winter, with ravine country on the far bank. A short evening stop rather than an outing. Avoid the water in the monsoon.
