About Son River Ghats, Arwal
Arwal sits on the east bank of the Son, one of the widest rivers in Bihar, and the ghats below the town are its one real sight. In winter the river shrinks to channels across a huge sand bed and the sunsets are good. Chhath in October or November brings the whole town to the water. The Son runs fast and deep in the monsoon and the sand banks shift, so keep off the edge then.
What to see and do
- Sunset over the Son sand banks
- Chhath gathering each Kartik
- The Arwal-Sahar bridge across the river
